Gay Gallipoli

Greek for “Beautiful City,” Gallipoli is set on the tip of the Salentina Peninsula, which juts out into the Ionian Sea in Sothern Italy.  The Old Town is located on a limestone island just off the shore, linked to the mainland by a 16th century bridge that remains fairly unchanged.  With just 21,000 residents, entering this village is like taking a step back into Italy’s past.  Small lanes, charming restaurants, and a genuine pride for local history make Gallipoli a welcome respite from some of the busier, more touristed cities in Italy.  As it is still slightly off the traditional tourist trail, a venture to Gallipoli means real time to connect with what makes Italy so wonderful - the people and the food!
