2Sao Paulo is the second largest and most multicultural city in Latin America. Each June the city plays host to the biggest gay pride parade in South America. More than two million people gather at Avenida Paulista for the event. The gay scene in Sao Paulo is diversified, so there are plenty of options for every taste - from small pubs and cruising bars to very modern and stylish nightclubs. You can also find the best international dining here, 24 hours a day.
It can get quite hot during summer while winter is very mild and pleasant as it barely rains during this season. Be ready for summer rains almost everyday however - March is the month that most Brazilians consider that last month of the raining season and November the first. In the Southern Hemisphere, summer is from December through February.
There are a variety of options for travelers looking to get around town, including a subway system, public buses, taxis. Transportation can be arranged by hotel concierge/front desk. Car rentals can be useful although traffic can be crazy during rush hour. Most rental companies offer GPS devices. Walking is safe when you’re in a group and in certain areas.
The gay region is located in the most expensive quarter in Sao Paulo, called “Jardins.” The neighborhood is located between Av. Paulista (the financial district) and R. Oscar Freire (the expensive and stylish designer shopping area). This is a not dangerous area and walking through streets and bars can be very enjoyable.
